浙江大学建筑设计研究院有限公司（UAD）始建于1953年，是国家重点高校中最早成立的甲级设计研究院之一，至今已有七十年的历史。公司坚持“营造和谐、放眼国际、产学研创、高精专强”的办院方针，以“高品位的文化，高宽远的视野，高效能的管理，高素质的人才，高精专的技术，高质量的作品”为发展战略，2000年1月通过ISO9001质量体系认证，2017年11月通过职业健康安全体系和环境管理体系认证。
UAD现有生产及管理部门六十余个，员工1700余名，其中全国工程勘察设计大师1名，享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家1名，中国当代百名建筑师2名,浙江省工程勘察设计大师6名,中国杰出工程师4名,中国建筑学会青年建筑师、青年工程师奖获得者12名，高级技术职称近500名，注册工程师600余名。
业务范围集境内外的建筑设计、国土空间规划、市政工程设计、工程总承包、全过程咨询、项目管理、文化遗产保护、室内设计、风景园林设计、建筑幕墙设计、泛光照明设计、展陈设计、智能化设计、岩土工程、地质勘探、绿色建筑、工业化设计、BIM 三维设计技术、海绵城市、智慧城市、未来社区等设计、技术、科研于一体。
UAD始终坚持走创作路线和精品路线，以“平衡建筑”学术理论指导设计实践，在教育建筑、文化建筑、办公建筑、医疗建筑、人居规划、体育建筑、超高层建筑、既有建筑更新改造、景观桥梁、乡村振兴规划等领域凭借前瞻性的技术和市场研发，先后完成了多个高水准设计佳作，历年来共获得1700余项国家、部、省级优秀设计奖、国际设计奖、优质工程奖及科技成果奖。
UAD坚持设计、教学、科研相结合，依托浙江大学，定聘中国工程院院士、中国科学院院士等高科技人才作为技术支撑，繁荣建筑创作，积极参加市场竞争，并广泛开展国际学术交流与工程联合设计，与美国SOM、KPF、CRTKL、HOK、JWDA、GMA、NBBJ、AUD、P+R、ARQ、HKS、GENSLER，瑞士HDM赫尔佐格&德默隆建筑事务所，日本隈研吾建筑都市设计事务所、日建、日本设计、久米设计、M.A.O一级建筑士事务所，德国gmp、WSP、海茵、STI，澳大利亚COX、PTW、Woods Bagot，加拿大凯盛国际，新加坡巴马丹拿、D.P建筑设计事务所、荷兰powerhouse company & BCA，英国TFP Farrells、Benoy、Forster+Partners、WALD等国际知名的设计公司、事务所进行合作。
2008年成立的工程技术研究中心为省级企业技术中心；2011年被认定为国家高新技术企业；2012年成立院士专家工作站（市级），2022年获批重点院士工作站（省级）；2014年与浙江大学建筑工程学院联合成立“协同创新研究中心”；2016年授牌浙江省企业博士后工作站，2022年获批国家博士后工作站；2020年授牌浙江省企业研究院；与浙江大学共同成立校级研究机构浙江大学平衡建筑研究中心和浙江大学城市火灾安全工程研究中心。
先后获得当代中国建筑设计百家名院、中国勘察设计行业创新型优秀企业、杭州市十佳勘察设计企业、杭州市首批十大产业企业技术创新团队等称号；并被认定为杭州市十大产业重点企业、杭州市文化和科技融合示范企业(试点)和首届“服务杭州”品牌20强企业；是第一批国家级工程实践教育中心建设单位。取得了较好的社会声誉和经济效益，得到社会各界和建设单位的赞扬和好评。
Founded in 1953, The Architectural Design & Research Institute of Zhejiang University Co., Ltd. (UAD) is one of the earliest Class-A design institutes established among national key universities, with a history spanning over seven decades. Upholding the guiding principle of "Harmonious Environment, Global Vision, Design Integrating Teaching & Research & Creation, Aiming High & Professional & Powerful", the company pursues a development strategy centered around "High-Grade Culture, Long & Wide Vision, High-Efficiency Management, High-Caliber Personnel, Highly Professional Technique and High-Quality Works". UAD obtained ISO9001 quality management system certification in January 2000 and occupational health and safety management system certification as well as environmental management system certification in November 2017.

UAD currently employs nearly 1,700 staff, including 1 national master of engineering survey and design, 1 expert enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, 2 of China's contemporary top 100 architects, 6 masters of engineering survey and design in Zhejiang Province, 4 outstanding engineers of China, 12 recipients of the Youth Architect and Youth Engineer Awards from the Architectural Society of China, over 500 senior technical title holders, and more than 600 registered engineers.
Always dedicated to architectural design as the core business, UAD integrates high-quality design services with cutting-edge industry perspectives, making it a large engineering design consulting company standing at the forefront of the industry. Our scope of business covers architectural design at home and abroad, territorial spatial planning, municipal engineering design, engineering general contracting, full-process consulting, cultural heritage preservation, exhibition design, geotechnical engineering, geological exploration, and green building, among others. With integrated design, technology, and research capabilities, we provide one-stop comprehensive construction consulting and services for construction projects.
UAD has been persevering in the creation of innovative, high-end projects, applying the academic theory of "Balance Architecture" as design guidelines. Leveraging forward-looking technology and market research and development, we have delivered an array of high-quality designs in various fields such as educational, scientific research, cultural, office, medical, residential planning, sports, high-rise, existing building renovation, landscape bridges, and rural revitalization planning. Over the years, we have reaped over 1,900 national, ministerial, provincial-level excellent design awards, international design awards, quality engineering awards, and scientific and technological achievement awards.
Pursuing the integration of design, teaching, and research, UAD, on the strength of Zhejiang University, employs high-tech talents such as academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences as technical support to thrive in architectural creation. We actively partake in market competition and extensively engages in international academic exchanges and joint engineering design initiatives. We have collaborated with well-known design firms from around the world, such as SOM, KPF, CRTKL, NBBJ, and GENSLER from the United States, HDM Herzog & De Meuron Architects from Switzerland, Kengo Kuma Architects from Japan, GMP and Hein from Germany, COX, PTW, and Woods Bagot from Australia, MVRDV from the Netherlands, and TFP Farrells and Forster+Partners from the United Kingdom, among others.
The Engineering Technology Research Center of UAD established in 2008 was designated as a provincial-level enterprise technology center; in 2011, UAD was recognized as a national high-tech enterprise; in 2012, it established an academician expert workstation (municipal-level), which was approved as a key academician workstation (provincial-level) in 2022; in 2014, it jointly established the "Collaborative Innovation Research Center" with the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture of Zhejiang University; in 2016, it was licensed as a postdoctoral workstation in Zhejiang Province and approved as a national postdoctoral workstation in 2022; in 2020, it was licensed as a Zhejiang Provincial Enterprise Research Institute; it joined hands with Zhejiang University in establishing the Center for Balance Architecture of Zhejiang University and the Urban Fire Safety Engineering Research Center of Zhejiang University, both functioning as school-level research institutions.
UAD has been awarded titles such as "Contemporary China Top 100 Well-Known Architectural Design Institutes", "Innovative Excellent Enterprise in the Survey and Design Industry of China", "Top 10 Survey & Engineering Design Firms of Hangzhou", and the "First Batch of Ten Leading Industries with Enterprise Technology Innovation Teams in Hangzhou. We have been recognized as one of the key enterprises of Hangzhou Top 10 Industries, a demonstration enterprise (pilot) for the integration of culture and technology in Hangzhou, and one of the top 20 "Hangzhou Service Brand" enterprises. We have received awards such as the "Advanced Collective of Zhejiang Province for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 and the 4th Asian Para Games Hangzhou" awarded by the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province and the "Administrative Award for the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 and the 4th Asian Para Games Hangzhou" awarded by the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government. The company is among the first national centers for engineering practice education. We have garnered good social reputation and created notable economic benefits, winning praise and commendation from construction units as well as various sectors of society.
